At the moment Project Blank is in version 1.81/Build 181 .

We have good news, bad news, and more good news !

Bad news :

- Animations doens’t work correct on Windows (Tommy uses Linux). This is fixable, but takes a lot of time and is boring as hell …

- The whole killing-system didn’t work anymore on Windows .

Good news :

- We adjusted the killing-system, and now it works even better !

- We’re working on getting an explosion when hit, so you know when you’re dead .

- We’re trying to make the sound work on Linux .

We’ll use it to post tiny updates such as these, they’re not worth the blogpost .

Updates:

- The textures fit in nice, we worked a lot on the UV-maps .

- The .blend-file contains 5.7MB including all textures and sound . (Coming from 30MB !)

- The sound is updated, it isn’t okay yet, but we’re working on it .

- Some faces of the map aren’t completely finished, but we hope we can fix it.

- The Singleplayer/Tutorial is finished ! It isn’t that long because we couldn’t imagine something better .

- The credits are now finished, the menu has become more moveable due to sub-menu’s. There’s a sub-menu called ‘Network/Internet Functionality’, but that will need to wait. Next week TommyNL will get free, so he can work on it .

- We added a score-system when using Split-Screen .

Yes, we made another update, and we’re doing well .

Reduction:

In Blender, the files are .blend-files, and our dick-tator (TommyNL), had 30MB .blend-files … He reduced that to 9.4MB ! You can see the tiny differences in the screenshots posted below here.

You might see the rings at the radiator, each ring is a vertex, and it takes in tons of data …

Advantages:

- Loading-time is slower

- Better graphics-preformance (Your system needs to work less for almost the same thing.)

Textures:

Like you might have noticed, we changed the textures a bit. These are getting better, and the holes in the tank-model will be fixed.

Menu:

We changed the menu so there’s a sub-menu. We’ll make a video about this.

Death:

First, you could only be killed when you where driving, due to the killing-script was inside the driving-script, so if you didn’t drive, you couldn’t get killed. Now, the killing-script is a script on his own.

But, the tank always touches the floor, and when hit, the script should think the tank collides with the bullet, sometimes however, the tank collides with the floor, so we need to fix that.

Next:

- The holes in the tank-model.
- Textures.
- Outro and credits.

The first two thins aren’t easy, and it takes ages, but it gives awesome effects .

We just released a new version of our game: Version 1.04

There isn’t a downloadable version yet, but I guess it won’t take that long anymore before there will be one .

Updates:

- The short intro in the beginning.
- A main menu.
- Split screen-mode for multiplayer (Max 2 persons.). (Internet/network function isn’t there yet.)
- A simple single player/tutorial. (Not finished yet though…)
- And many small other updates…

Bugs:

- Hit’s don’t always get registered.
- You can shoot throught walls.
- The camera collides with the walls.

Next updates:
- Spawn protection.
- Death message when killed.
- Shooting range for tutorial.
- Better and more multiplayer maps.
- A score system

We just made some updates:

- We made a basic map, the map where you begin when starting a new game, the default map.

- We also made an intro ! You know what I mean, like in all games, you have a little video-intro

- We also made a menu, it appears after you saw the intro, where you need to choose ‘New Game’, ‘Load Game’ etc.

- The 4th update, is a great physics-update !

We’re also still working on a site, I’ll let you know something soon .

Sorry I didn’t let you know something for about 3 days, but I had some work to do.

First of all, we have made some big updates the last 3-5 days:

• We made the website where I was talking about in my latest post (I won’t post the link yet, it isn’t finished yet.) Why we made a new website ? Simple, so we can easily upload stuff like models, different way for blogging,
• We made a new map, a bowling, it isn’t textured yet, so that will take some time though.
• As you will have noticed we are making this in Blender, a program for making 3D-models. Due to we have come to the limit of Blender’s Game Engine, we are planning to work on it in Python, this will also take some time though.
• We are working on new maps.
• As you will have noticed, the gunshots in the first GamePlay Video sucked. So now, we made another GamePlay Video, listed below.
• We are also working on a menu, like in every game, there is a menu, where you can choose things like ‘New Game’, ‘Load Game’, ‘Options’, etc. We are working on it, but I guess it will take some time till it is finished.
• We also had a little problem with the tank: When we try to ride up a hill, the tank can’t. So now we’re trying to change the physics a bit.
